For a comparison to be worth anything, first a fair description of both.

Jamatu

Built for Swiss hospitality

From the canton of Zurich, for restaurants, bars, cafés, hotels, take-aways and canteens. POS on a tablet, a smartphone or the JamTerminal, self-ordering by QR code and at the kiosk, kitchen display and receipt printing, plus the assistant Jonida.

Billing is per venue. Whether one POS is running or five devices are out on the floor, the price stays the same. We provide the payment terminal free of charge, there is no fixed fee per receipt, and the subscription can be cancelled monthly.

Gastronovi

The modular software from Bremen

Software for restaurants and hotels from Bremen, sold in Switzerland through partners such as Baldegger+Sortec. POS with kitchen display, plus modules for cash book, inventory management, costing, table reservations, ordering system, website, newsletter, time tracking and multi-site operation.

The POS is charged per device, each module per venue. Prices are published in francs, and we work through them below.

A second device on the floor should not mean a second licence. That is why, with us, the price stays the same whether there is one POS at the counter or five devices out and about.

Cash book, kitchen display and ordering by QR code, for pickup or with delivery are included. JamOrder has no licence, setup or monthly fee and takes no share of sales.

Who Gastronovi suits

No POS system suits every venue. In these cases, Gastronovi is a good choice.

Several venues with a head office. If you run several restaurants from a head office, Gastronovi has a dedicated module for it.
Marketing from one source. Gastronovi offers website, newsletter and loyalty as modules. That is not part of what we offer.
Time tracking in the system. If you want to track working hours in the POS system, Gastronovi offers it for CHF 39 a month. We don't offer it.

What switching really involves

Check terms and notice periods
First we check when your Gastronovi plans end. Annual plans renew automatically unless cancelled one month in advance. If switching only pays off later, we will tell you.
Set up your menu together
We enter items, prices, variants and extras together in one session. An existing menu as a list is all we need to start.
Train your team
We set up the POS at your venue and train your team. You can try the demo in your browser beforehand.

How much does Gastronovi cost in Switzerland?

According to gastronovi.com, the POS with kitchen display costs CHF 79 a month for the first device, CHF 69 from the second and CHF 59 from the sixth. Modules come on top, for example cash book CHF 34, table reservations CHF 129 and ordering system CHF 89 a month. On the annual plan, it is around 17 % less. As of 20 October 2026.

Is Jamatu cheaper than Gastronovi?

For the software, almost always, and the gap grows with every device and every module, because we bill per venue and the cash book and online ordering are in the subscription. For transactions, we put the rate from our quote next to your statement.

How much does support cost with Gastronovi?

Gastronovi offers support packages. Without a package, standard support is billed by time in 5-minute increments, on site plus travel costs; prices for Switzerland are available on request. With us, support is around the clock and on site, and setup and training are free of charge.

What happens if the Wi-Fi goes down?

The JamTerminal and smartphones have a SIM card and keep running over 4G, for ordering and payment. A POS that keeps recording offline does little for payments: card and TWINT usually need a connection anyway.

Who is Gastronovi a better fit for?

For several venues with a head office, for marketing modules such as website and newsletter, and for time tracking in the system. If that is central for you, Gastronovi is a good fit. For everything else, we are happy to work through your case.
